Cincinnati Reds coming out on top of the Houston Astros by the score of 3 to
1.

Cincinnati jumped out to the early lead in the first inning scoring 2 runs on
3 hits. Dave Collins got things going when he stroked a base-hit. Joe
Morgan followed next and he laced a one-base hit. Morgan was safe on a
stolen base. Dave Concepcion came up and he hit a deep fly. George Foster
came up to bat and delivered a single. After another out, Ray Knight was a
strikeout victim, unable to help out. That early run support was all that
Lacoss required. The Houston offense proved no trouble in the bottom of the
9th.

Lacoss got help from Doug Bair who was credited with his 10th save. With this
win, Cincinnati has a division leading 47-26 record. They have been 6-4
lately. Houston will hope that this loss is only a 'blip' on their recent
8-2 run - and not a start of a new trend.

George Foster connected with a 'big fly' and had 3 RBI as the Cincinnati Reds
topped the Montreal Expos by a score of 6 to 5 at Olympic
Stadium.

Cincinnati came up with 5 runs in the top of the 5th inning when they came up
with 4 base hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Foster who
deflated the crowd as he clubbed a three-run home run. Montreal threatened
in the 9th but their rally came up short.

Tom Seaver(8-3) allowed 3 runs in 6 innings, and picked up the victory. Seaver
got help from Tom Hume who was credited with his 2nd save. The losing
pitcher was Scott Sanderson(7-3). Cincinnati knocked him around a bit, as he
gave up 5 runs in 4 and 2/3 innings.
