Bob Knepper reeled off a total of 10 strikeouts at Candlestick Park as the San
Francisco Giants beat the Cincinnati Reds by the count of 5 to
2.

Knepper(7-4) had a strong outing. He gave up just 4 hits and no walks in 8
innings. Gary Lavelle was perfect in the ninth giving him his 10th save on
the season.

The losing pitcher was Bill Bonham(4-3). When asked about his strikeout total
for the game, Knepper offered, 'The fan's really got into it. It is fun to
see them tally up the strikeout totals up there in the stands. Fortunately,
I kept them busy tonight - of course, it would be all for naught without the
'W'.'
