In a good matchup it was the San Francisco Giants 5, the Cincinnati Reds 3 in
11 innings at Candlestick Park.

The score was knotted at 3 after nine innings. San Francisco won the hard
fought contest in the 11th inning. Jack Clark got things going when he drew
a walk. Willie McCovey followed next and he cracked a two-run shot resulting
in a mighty exciting win for San Francisco and the 24,186 home town fans in
attendance. Although they lost, Cincinnati did out-hit San Francisco 13 to
9.

Pedro Borbon(3-1) went 2 and 2/3 innings allowing no runs for the win. Doug
Bair(5-6) was the loser in relief. He gave up 2 runs and 3 hits in 2
innings.
