Thurman Munson ripped 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI at Fenway Park as the New York
Yankees, running on all cylinders, ripped the Boston Red Sox by a large 14 to
2 margin.
Munson really lit it up for New York. The Boston fans let him have it for
what he did to their boys. He doubled in the 1st inning, doubled scoring a
run in the 2nd inning, delivered a solo blast in the 4th inning, lifted one
out of the park for a two run home run in the 5th inning and ripped a
base-hit in the 7th inning. Offensively, New York was a juggernaut. They
scored in 6 separate innings.
Mike Torrez(15-9) went 6 and 1/3 innings allowing 2 runs for the victory. Luis
Tiant(14-11) was the loser. 'I just got in the box, looked for a pitch and
swung,' Munson said. 'That's it'
