The Birmingham Barons readily handled Kansas City Monarchs by a score of 5 to
1 at Municipal Stadium.
Birmingham had 3 runs cross the plate in the 4th inning when they came up with
4 base hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Dave Winfield who helped
quiet the crowd when he smashed a two-run homer. Birmingham finished with 12
hits in the victory.

Heathcliff Slocumb preserved the game for Ball, recording his his 4th. Don
