First baseman Dan Driessen had 2 base hits as the Cincinnati Reds beat the Los
Angeles Dodgers in 13 innings by a score of 3 to 2.
 
The score was tied at 2 after nine.  Finally, Cincinnati prevailed in the 13th
inning.  After an out was recorded, Driessen delivered a one-base hit.
Hector Cruz stepped up next and he drew a walk.  Harry Spilman then doubled
giving Cincinnati the win much to the delight of the home town crowd.
Cincinnati out-hit Los Angeles for the game, 11 hits to 8.  
 
Manny Sarmiento(2-2) allowed no runs in 2 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Bob Welch(3-7) absorbed the loss in relief.  He gave up 2 hits and 1
walk in 1 and 1/3 innings.
