WEB GEMS- Bot 1st: Larry Bowa robbed Dave Concepcion of a base hit.

Second baseman Manny Trillo had 5 hits and 3 RBI as the Philadelphia Phillies
topped the Cincinnati Reds in 10 innings by a score of 14 to 11 at Riverfront
Stadium.

The game was deadlocked at 11 after nine full innings. Philadelphia ended up
winning it in the 10th inning. Garry Maddox started the inning off right
when he delivered a one-base hit. Larry Bowa came next and he slapped a
base-hit. Greg Gross then delivered a single. Gross got a great jump and
stole second easily. Bake McBride came up to bat and lined a base-hit.
Philadelphia continued their aggressive style with another stolen base. Pete
Rose stepped up next and he drew a walk to load the bases. Trillo then
stroked a one-base hit. Mike Schmidt was next to the plate, but was promptly
struck out. Greg Luzinski got his turn next, but he was a strikeout victim.
Philadelphia lit up the scoreboard in the 7th inning when they had 3 runs on
4 hits, the 8th inning when they had 3 runs on 3 hits and the 10th inning
which saw them score 3 runs on 5 hits. It was roller coaster of a game as
the lead change hands 5 times.

The win went to Ron Reed(8-10) who allowed no runs in 1 and 2/3 innings. Reed
got help from Tug McGraw who was credited with his 10th save. The loss was
charged to Doug Bair(5-9) in relief.
