Ellis Valentine had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the Montreal Expos topped the
Cincinnati Reds by a score of 6 to 3 at Olympic Stadium.
Montreal promptly took the lead in their half of the first when they scored 5
runs on 5 hits. That scoring would be all that was needed. Cincinnati made
it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.
Dan Schatzeder(10-1) went 8 innings allowing 2 runs for the victory. Fred
Norman(13-6) was charged with the loss. He allowed 6 runs and 6 hits in 1
and 1/3 innings.
