At Riverfront Stadium the lifeless Atlanta Braves were battered 9 to 4 by the
Cincinnati Reds.
Cincinnati took the lead off Mickey Mahler in the first inning plating 3 runs
utilizing 2 base hits. Joe Morgan got things going when he drew a walk.
Morgan took second on a stolen base. After an out was recorded, Dave Collins
stepped in and he stroked a one-base hit. Johnny Bench was up next and he
cracked a two-run shot. After another out, Hector Cruz got his turn next,
but he was a strikeout victim. Cincinnati finished with 11 hits while
Atlanta ended up with 7.
Mike Lacoss(11-2) got the win allowing 2 runs in 7 innings. Mahler(3-9) was
the losing pitcher. He was knocked around pretty good, giving up 6 runs in 4
