Dave Concepcion had 5 hits and 2 RBI as the Cincinnati Reds outscored the St.
Louis Cardinals 10 to 4.
Cincinnati took the lead off Pete Vuckovich in the first inning scoring 3 runs
using 3 hits. After an out was recorded, Concepcion got things rolling when
he stroked a base-hit. Joe Morgan followed and he drew a walk. After
another out, Johnny Bench stepped up to the plate and he slapped a single.
Ray Knight was up next and he lined a single, and an error was also
committed. Cesar Geronimo was next to bat, but he was a strikeout victim.
Cincinnati simply wore out the St. Louis pitching staff, scoring in 6
different innings.
Bill Bonham(5-4) went 7 innings allowing 3 runs for the win. Vuckovich(7-5)
ended up with the loss. He got hammered, allowing 13 hits and 5 walks in 8
innings.
