In a thrilling finish the Atlanta Braves won in dramatic fashion coming back
to beat the Cincinnati Reds by the count of 6 to 5.
Atlanta erupted with the game winning runs in the bottom of the 9th inning
plating 2 runs on 2 base hits. Dale Murphy led off and he tripled. Barry
Bonnell came next and he reached on an error. After an out was recorded,
Bruce Benedict came up and he delivered a single. A wild and woolly affair,
this game saw the lead change 5 times.
Gene Garber(5-4) went 2 innings allowing 1 run for the victory. Doug Bair(5-8)
ended up with the loss in relief. 'Wow, that was fun!', Garber said
following the game. 'Once in a while you play a game that reminds you just
why you got into this business to begin with!'
