Dave Collins hit 2 doubles at Veterans Stadium as the Cincinnati Reds beat the
Philadelphia Phillies by the count of 7 to 3.
Cincinnati erupted with the game winning runs in the 8th inning as they scored
6 runs on 5 base hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by George Foster who
silenced the crowd when he depressed the partisan hometown fans with a grand
slam home run. Overall Cincinnati out-hit Philadelphia 14 to 6.
Tom Seaver(7-3) went 8 and 1/3 innings allowing 3 runs for the victory. Rawly
Eastwick(4-2) suffered the loss in relief. He was hit hard and gave up 5
hits and 3 walks in 2 innings.
