First baseman Dan Driessen knocked 2 homeruns and had 6 RBI as the Cincinnati
Reds defeated the Philadelphia Phillies by the score of 14 to 8 at Veterans
Stadium.
Driessen had a great day at the plate. He belted a three-run homer in the 3rd
inning, delivered a single in the 6th inning and lost the ball over the fence
for three runs in the 9th inning. Cincinnati dominated offensively as they
scored in 6 different innings.
The winning pitcher was Fred Norman(8-2) who allowed 2 runs in 6 innings.
Randy Lerch(2-6) was tagged with the loss. He gave up 6 runs in 2 and 1/3
innings of work.
'The ball was jumping off my bat' Driessen said. 'I didn't do anything
differently, it's the same way I always approach the game.'
