WEB GEMS- Bot 9th: Paul Blair robbed Larry Parrish of an extra base hit.
Bill Lee whitewashed Cincinnati on 3 hits at Olympic Stadium as the Montreal
Expos beat the Cincinnati Reds in 11 innings by the count of 2 to 0.
The score was a scoreless tie after nine. Montreal came out the victor in the
11th inning. Rodney Scott led off and got things going when he laced a
base-hit. Andre Dawson dug into the batters box next, but he struck out.
Tony Perez then bombed a two-run dinger resulting in a mighty exciting win
for Montreal and the 35,367 home town fans in attendance. Montreal had only
5 hits for the night.
Lee(8-1) was credited with the shutout. Doug Bair(5-4) took the loss in
relief. 'We didn't have a whole lot of chances tonight,' John McNamara said.
'Lee just was too much for our guys.'
