Tom Seaver left the yard at Riverfront Stadium where the Cincinnati Reds beat
the New York Mets 5 to 2.
Cincinnati claimed the early lead in the first inning as they scored 2 runs on
3 base hits. Both teams' bats went to sleep after the 4th inning with no
runs scored after that point.
The victory was credited to Seaver(6-3) who went 7 innings, allowing 2 runs.
Seaver got help from Doug Bair who was credited with his 7th save. Craig
Swan(2-4) was charged with the loss. He gave up 5 runs and 8 hits in 7
innings.
Cincinnati now has a record of a division leading 35-19. Not able to get much
going in recent weeks, New York is 2-8 of late and now has an overall record
of 16-32, worst in the division.
