Tom Seaver pitched 9 strong innings as the Cincinnati Reds defeated the
Houston Astros by a score of 2 to 1 at The Astrodome.

Seaver(5-3) contributed a very nicely pitched game. He allowed only 6 hits
and no walks in 9 innings reducing his ERA from 4.18 to 3.60. Houston went
down without a fight in the bottom of the 9th.

Joe Niekro(7-4) absorbed the loss. With this win, Cincinnati has a 30-18
record. They have been 7-3 lately. Even with the loss, Houston still has a
nice 8-2 record in recent weeks. They are 31-20 on the season.
