First baseman Dan Driessen went deep and had 3 RBI as the Cincinnati Reds
bested the San Francisco Giants 6 to 3 at Candlestick Park.

Cincinnati wasted no time and took the lead in the first inning scoring 3
runners on 3 hits. The highlight belonged to Driessen who deflated the
spirits of the home town crowd when he smashed a two-run homer. San
Francisco had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.

Bill Bonham(3-1) went 6 and 2/3 innings allowing 1 run for the win. Ed
Halicki(0-6) was given the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 10 hits and 4
walks in 7 innings.

'It was a tough one to lose' said Joe Altobelli 'We'll get them next time
out.'
