Ray Knight smashed 2 homeruns and scored 4 times as the Cincinnati Reds bested
the floundering Philadelphia Phillies in 10 innings 8 to 7 at Riverfront
Stadium.

The score was tied at 7 after nine. Cincinnati won the hard fought contest in
the 10th inning. Knight ripped a base-hit. Arturo Defreites was next to
bat, but he was a strikeout victim. After another out, Doug Bair stepped in
and he slapped a single. Ken Griffey was up next and he singled giving
Cincinnati the victory and sending the 45,649 home-town fans home happy.
Cincinnati finished with 15 hits while Philadelphia ended up with 9.

The win was credited to Bair(4-2) who went 2 innings allowing no runs. Ron
Reed(5-6) was tagged with the loss in relief.
