54,678 fans watched an exciting game at Dodger Stadium. The Cincinnati Reds
topped the Los Angeles Dodgers by the slimmest of margins, 4 to 3.
Both teams were tied at 3 runs apiece after nine innings. Cincinnati ended up
winning it in the 10th inning. Dan Driessen drew a walk. Johnny Bench
stepped up next and he singled. Bench took second on the throw. Two outs
later Charlie Hough came to bat and bounced one in the dirt for a wild pitch.
Los Angeles went down quietly in the bottom of the 10th.
The victory was credited to Tom Hume(4-4) who went 2 innings, allowing no
runs. Hough(2-4) was the loser in relief. He allowed 1 run and 2 hits in 2
innings.
