First baseman Tony Perez hit one over the fence and had 3 RBI as the Montreal
Expos came back to win one over Cincinnati Reds, 5 to 4.

Montreal scored the decisive runs in a big top of the 9th inning plating 2
runs using 3 hits. After an out was recorded, Andre Dawson initiated the
scoring when he lofted a solo-blast 'downtown'. Rodney Scott came next and
he doubled. One out later, Perez came to bat and singled. Montreal out-hit
Cincinnati for the game, 12 hits to 8.

Stan Bahnsen(6-3) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 3 innings. Woodie
Fryman was credited with his 3rd save. The loss was charged to Doug
Bair(4-3) in relief. He pitched 2 innings and surrendered 3 hits and no
walks.

After the game, it took a long while before John McNamara emerged from his
office. In a subdued tone he answered only a couple of questions. He
concluded with, 'Fellows, sorry I'm not in a very talkative mood tonight, as
I think you'll understand. I'm sure you'll find the banter a lot more
light-hearted over in the Montreal locker room.'
