George Foster hit 2 doubles at Jack Murphy Stadium as the Cincinnati Reds beat
the San Diego Padres 5 to 1.
Cincinnati came up with 3 runs in the 4th inning when they came up with 6 base
hits. After an out was recorded, Foster was the sparkplug when he doubled.
Dan Driessen stepped into the batter's box and he lined a single. Johnny
Bench then doubled. Ray Knight followed and he tripled. Cesar Geronimo came
up to bat and hit a single. Tom Seaver added to the uprising and lined a
one-base hit. Seaver took second on the throw. Cincinnati finished with 15
hits while San Diego ended up with 6.
The win was credited to Seaver(2-1) who went 8 innings allowing 1 run. Gaylord
Perry(0-2) absorbed the loss. He pitched 7 innings giving up 13 hits and 1
