Eric Davis launched 2 homeruns at Shibe Park as the Philadelphia Phillies
pulled off a dramatic comeback beating the New York Giants by the count of 3
to 2.
Philadelphia had the game winning rally in the 9th inning with 2 runs
utilizing 2 base hits. Dave Magadan kicked off the action when he hit a
bases-empty home run (his 1st of the season). After an out was recorded,
Davis came up and he smashed a solo-shot out of the park (his 9th of the
season) giving Philadelphia the victory and sending the 32,475 home-town fans
home happy. Philadelphia finished with just 4 hits in the victory.
Jeff Montgomery(3-2) allowed no runs in 1 inning, and picked up the victory.
Tim Lollar(2-1) took the loss in relief. He pitched 1/3 of an inning and
surrendered 1 hit and no walks.
'We just wouldn't give up,' Davis said. 'Much of the credit goes to our fans -
they were with us the whole way.'
