He pitched a great game, beating Bob Gibson, taking a shutout into the 9th, broken up by a two out homer from Gene Oliver. Sandy gave up only three hits, walked two and struck out 12. It was one of his best starts of the season. |

Sandy Koufax tossed a fine 3 hitter as the Los Angeles Dodgers outscored the
St. Louis Cardinals 5 to 1.
Los Angeles took the lead for good in the top of the 4th inning scoring one
runner. Los Angeles had only 5 hits for the game.
Koufax(19-11) finished the game allowing 1 run in the victory. Bob
Gibson(12-5) absorbed the loss. He gave up 4 runs and 4 hits in 6 innings.
'I've been working on a few things in my delivery, and I think I'm hitting a
good groove.' Koufax said after the game. 'I'm ready to start another game
tomorrow!'
