At Connie Mack Stadium the sizzling Los Angeles Dodgers outscored the
Philadelphia Phillies 8 to 5.
Philadelphia was unable to claim the lead after Los Angeles went ahead in the
3rd inning with 2 runs. After two outs Maury Wills started the rally when he
drew a walk. Jim Gilliam was next and he drew a walk. Ron Fairly then
doubled bringing in two baserunners. Los Angeles had many opportunities
throughout the game and scored in 6 separate innings.
The victory was credited to Sandy Koufax(20-11) who went 7 innings, allowing 3
runs. Koufax was helped out by Larry Sherry who recorded his 19th save. The
loss was charged to Jim Owens(4-8).
